‘SLUGLIFE’ is the new single from one of TMR's favourite duos, Big Special. It’s a gritty cut that starts by combining countrified, tension-laden guitars with spoken word, before introducing heavily bit-crushed drums and tender vocal melody. The track’s tremolo-heavy Wild West vibe bursts into life during its instrumental sections, which feel hazy and shimmering. “This is a song about living low to the ground and going slow,” the pair explain. “Feeling guilt for needing a bit of time to pull yourself up by your bootstraps. It’s about working through the self-hate that can come through hard times.” Big Special are heading out on a tour of UK and Ireland in February 2026. -Dan Peeke
